Top Tips for Losing Weight

When it comes to losing weight, not all of us can afford a personal nutritionist! However, to make things easier we’ve come up with some of the top tips for losing weight and eventually achieving your goal of a healthy body.

1. Be Realistic

It’s important to remember that the healthy amount for weight loss is around 1-2lb per week, or ½ to 1 kg. Don’t worry if you are losing weight slowly. Just make sure you regularly monitor your diet and activities and make sure to follow the Zotrim Way correctly. Over time this sustained weight loss is going to make a huge difference to your health.

2. Eat Breakfast

There have been many studies showing that breakfast of toast or cereal greatly reduces your desire to snack throughout the day – and can even help to lower cholesterol in men. Try having a high fiber diet alongside some fresh fruit juice.

3. Remember Your Zotrim

You should take 2-3 tablets each day just before meals. Make sure that you never exceed 9 tablets a day. Zotrim are easy to fit in your bag or pocket, so never forget to take it!

4. Try to Stop Eating Before 9pm

One of the main reasons that people gain weight is that they end up snacking on high fat foods in front of the TV. This is because you aren’t burning off any of those calories, and you are not getting out there and being active. Try to have a few nights where you keep the TV off and try out some activities with the family. If you can’t manage this then try to only eat healthy snacks with your TV viewing, such as toast or chopped fruit.

5. Be Careful When it Comes to Snacking

Most of us will snack, and this is fine as long as you watch what you’re snacking on. Try to avoid high fat snacks, such as crisps, chocolate, nuts etc., altogether and go for fruit yoghurt, fruit gums or pastilles. There is now evidence to suggest that a sweet low fat snack between meals can actually help people to stick to their diet – but always remember to keep your teeth healthy by brushing twice a day.

6. Eat Lots of Fruit

When it comes to fruit and vegetables, even if you’re on a diet, you can eat as much as you like. Try to visit your local market and see the kinds of varieties that are out there – many fruits are available all year round and you will never get bored! Also try having salads alongside steam vegetables for a meal that is literally bursting with vitamins and goodness. When it comes to dressing your salads, try to avoid oil and instead use fresh basil, balsamic vinegar and sunflower seeds.

7. Be Careful with Alcohol

It is true that a few glasses of wine can be healthy for your heart, but the main thing to watch out for are the calories in your drinks.

Alcohol also has the potential to make you more hungry, and the calories in a glass of wine are equal to two slices of bread. Try to keep alcohol as a weekend treat only, and limit your weekly intake to 5 units.
